The Feast of Trumpets

All the Feasts in the Bible are

YHVHs Festivals; they are not
Jewish Festivals. The Festivals are
known as mo-ed or Appointed
Times that signals the timeline and
work of the Messiah. YHVH made
these divine appointments with
humanity wherein He came and will
come to do His restoration work. All
the Festivals are Commanded in
Scripture to reveal YHVHs
Redemption and Restoration Plan.
The Festivals have historical value
as well as prophetic value; they act
as dress rehearsals for the Bride awaiting Her Messiah.

Unleavened Bread

Yom Teruah is one of the three Fall Festivals that

has to be fulfilled; that makes it very significant for
believers in Messiah to observe. Why? The Messiah
was revealed during His First Coming by the first
three Festivals, and if the people did not celebrate
them every year, they would not have known Who
the Messiah was and what He came to do for us. In
the same way, is it important for YHVHs people to
keep these Festivals in order to distinguish between
the real and the false Messiah. When you read the
Berit Chadashah (NT) you will find warnings to the
last generation against deception and false
Messiahs, including the Anti-Messiah. Anti does not
mean against, it means in the place of, and those
who are ignorant of the Ways of the Father will be
deceived.

Passover

These Festivals are celebrated during the times of the spring harvest and the
fall harvest every year. We have already celebrated the Spring Harvest
Festivals; Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits and Pentecost. These
Festivals have to do with the first coming of Messiah. The last three of the
seven Festivals, known as the Fall Festivals, have to do with the second
coming of Messiah; Yom Teruah or Trumpets, Yom Kippur or Day of
Atonement and Sukkot or Tabernacles. This feast starts the Fall Festivals and
is known as the the Day of Blowing (Yom Teruah).

Fall Festivals

Isaiah 62:6-7 On your walls, O Jerusalem,

I have set watchmen; all the day and all the
night they shall never be silent.
These Feasts are like 7 Watchman on the walls of
Jerusalem that shines like the seven lights, similar
to the Menorah, revealing who is approaching.
These seven lights or watchman makes it
possible to see the Messiah approaching.
If you believe in the Messiah and live in the time
between His Comings, it is strongly advised that
you study and celebrate these Festivals as preparation so that you will be part
of the five wise Virgins who have oil in their lamps, shining the lights from the
walls revealing the one who is coming. Matt 25:1 -13. YHVH gave us a wealth
of symbolism to foretell the future events to prepare His Bride so that she can
be ready.

The Significance of Blowing of Trumpets

Yom Teruah is celebrated as a Sabbath on the first day of the seventh month
every year at the sighting of the new moon at sunset.
Num 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first of the month, you
shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no labouring work. It is a
day of blowing the trumpets to you.
This Feast is celebrated by coming together as a Body and blowing of the
trumpets.
Num 10:2 Make two trumpets of silver for yourself. You shall
make them of beaten work. And they shall be used for the calling
of the assembly and for causing the camps to go forward.
A Call for Purification: Silver is the metal that signifies purification and the
blowing of the Silver trumpets is to call the people to purification in order to
prepare themselves for His Coming. Num 10 also reveals that it was to call
the Assembly together, with a view to moving forward, taking the next step as
directed by YHVH.
A Call for Unity and Restoration: The two silver trumpets represents the two
branches or two sticks YHVH is uniting together in His hand, unifying and
restoring the House of Israel. This calling together is found in the prophecy in
Ezekiel:
Eze 37:15-22 Again the Word of YHVH came to me, saying, 16 As for
you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: For Judah
and for the children of Israel, his companions. Then take another stick
and write on it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house
of Israel, his companions. 17 Then join them one to another for yourself
into one stick, and they will become one in your hand.

18 And

when the children of your people speak to you,

saying, Will you not show us what you mean by
these?19 say to them, Thus says YHVH your Elohim:
Surely I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the
hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel, his
companions; and I will join them with it, with the stick
of Judah, and make them one stick, and they will be
one in My hand. 20 And the sticks on which you write
will be in your hand before their eyes. 21 Then say to
them, Thus says YHVH your Elohim: Surely I will
take the children of Israel from among the nations,
wherever they have gone, and will gather them from
every side and bring them into their own land; 22 and I
will make them one nation in the land, on the
mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king over
them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be
divided into two kingdoms again.
This is where YHVH calls together the two sticks, Ephraim and Judah, to
become one stick in His hand. Judah represents the House that is known as
the Jews today; that consists of the tribes Judah, Levi and Benyamin.
Ephraim represents the House of the Northern Kingdom that was scattered
into all the nations and lost their identity. Ephraim represents what we know
as the Christians today, consisting of a mixed multitude of believers in
Messiah, coming from the lost tribes as well as the nations. What is important
to notice is that YHVH is restoring the House of Israel that consists of both
these Houses and the Church has not replaced Israel but become part of
Israel again, together with Judah, Levi and Benyamin. The prophetic
symbolism of blowing of the trumpets on this Feast is to proclaim this
prophecy in our time, calling the Two Houses together.
A Call to Leave the System: The blowing of the Trumpets is a sign of YHVH
calling out His people from the System of
Babylon.
Rev 18:4-8 And I heard another voice
from heaven saying, Come out of her,
my people, lest you share in her sins, and
lest you receive of her plagues. 5 For her
sins have reached to heaven, and God
has remembered her iniquities. 6 Render
to her just as she rendered to you, and
repay her double according to her works;
in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7 In the measure
that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure
give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, I sit as queen,
and am no widow, and will not see sorrow. 8 Therefore her plagues will
come in one daydeath and mourning and famine. And she will be
utterly burned with fire, for strong is YHVH Elohim who judges her.
Babylon means mixing and confusion and this system has infiltrated both the
secular and spiritual or religious areas.

People are entrapped in a secular of social Babylon where everything is about

the individual seeking the best for themselves in an environment of
materialism. In the religious circles, this system has caused confusion and
resulted in over 40,000 different Denominations within the Body of Messiah.
This has entrapped the majority of Ephraim (believers in Messiah) in religious
systems that ultimately submit under this authority. YHVH is calling His people
out of Babylon with the sounding of these trumpets.
The blowing of the trumpets on this day is to break the bondage and
strongholds that keep the nations and Believers bound within this system.
Just like Israel left Egypt in the time of Moses, so will there be a Greater
Exodus, not from the bondage of Pharaoh in Egypt, but from the bondage
and enslavement by the Whore of Babylon.
A Call to Gather the Troops: The final meaning of the blowing of the
Trumpets is to assemble the
troops in the time of war. There is
a spiritual war going on and the
battle is for souls. The kingdom
of darkness wants to swallow up
as many people as possible to
prevent them from entering
YHVHs Kingdom. The blowing of
the trumpet on this Feast is a
reminder to us that we are part of
the Army of YHVH, whos soul
mission is, not only to overcome the enemy in our lives but to help others to
overcome the enemy in their lives as well. The battlefield is not in the wind or
in the spiritual realm where we shout out Bible verses to Satan and demonic
forces. It is in the trenches on the earth, the places where sinners hang out
and where people lust after the world. It is in churches where there are
deception and false prophets; it is in homes where parents abuse their
children. The battlefield is in the hearts and souls of people and we need to
reach out to them in order to overcome the enemy. May the blowing of the
trumpets awaken the hearts of the people of YHVH to stand up against the
enemy so that they will rise up and take on the enemies that enslave the
people around us.

Ephraims Purpose
YHVHs Restoration Plan of salvation is for "all of Israel", both Houses and He
will use the House of Ephraim provoke the House of Judah to "jealousy." but
Ephraim will be "jealous" of Judah as well.
Rom 11:11 I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May
it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the
Gentiles, to make them jealous.
Isa 11:12-13 He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble
the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from
the four corners of the earth. 13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart,

and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy
Judah, and Judah shall not harass Ephraim.
In the last days, all this will be revealed; Ephraim's jealousy of Judah "will
depart" when Ephraim learns of his own Hebraic roots and Judah shall not
harass Ephraim anymore.
The Two Houses are revealed in the Berit Chadashah (NT) through the
parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32): The "returning prodigal"
(Ephraim) made the older son (Judah) jealous, by the feast that was prepared
and celebrated. For the Christians to discover the Hebrew Roots and starting
to celebrate the Festivals will provoke Judah to jealousy and thus the
importance of celebrating these lost Festivals that are foreign to most
Christians in order to fulfil prophecy.
Q - So how might we celebrate this Day of Blowing?
Have two trumpets, one for "Judah and one for Ephraim", sound them
together when you gather together. Then, based on Numbers 10:1-10, issue
the clarion call: "Let the twin voices of Ephraim and Judah be heard in this
place!"
Can we blow a rams horn instead of silver trumpets? Yes, you can. The
significance of this feast is in the hearing of the blowing or Teruah that also
means shouting, making a joyful noise. It is good if you have two silver trumpets
to signify the spiritual significance of this Feast but if you only have shophars,
that will still fulfil the importance of teruah, that means to call or shout.

Hebrew Marriage
The Rapture or Gathering of the Bride can be
explained at the hand of the Hebrew marriage. The
Hebrew Marriage consists of two main parts; the
Contract or ketubah and the gathering. During
betrothal, you are legally married, but the Bride
and Groom do not live together as a married
couple until a house is prepared for them to live in.
The betrothal or ketubah is legally binding that
you cannot get out of it without a divorce. We as believers in Messiah have
confirmed this first part of the Marriage Covenant by the receiving of His Spirit
(symbolising the engagement ring Eph 1:14).
The Second Stage is called the Gathering where the Groom will come and
collect his bride so that she can live with Him in the house he prepared. The
two parts of our Marriage Covenant is symbolised by the Hebrew Marriage:

Hebrew Marriage: When a man was interested

in a young lady and wanted to marry her, he went
to her father and made a contract or covenant
with him, that involved the payment of an agreed
amount. Yshua paid with His Blood to establish
this part of the Marriage agreement.
If the father accepted the payment, sealing the
contract, his daughter was legally engaged and
set aside or set-apart (made holy) for the young
man he is in covenant with. The next part of the
marriage is confirmed after the groom went back to his fathers house to build
and prepare a place for him and his new bride to live in. He had two years to
finish their new home and on completion could come to collect his bride.
The bride had to be ready, having a lamp filled with oil, burning
in her window, showing that she is still available and waiting for
her groom. The groom came unannounced, in the middle of the
night with his groomsmen, blowing trumpets of shophars. If she
was not at home during his coming, the wedding is off. If she
did not have oil in her lamp, keeping it burning, the wedding is
off. If he took more than two years to build the house, the
wedding is off.
Yshua is the Groom and we are His Bride. He fulfilled the First Stage of the
Marriage, the ketubah (contract) by paying with His blood. We are legally His,
spoken for, set apart and Holy while we await His Coming (Gathering). After
sealing the Contract, He went away to His Father to go and prepare a place for
us, where after He will come back after 2 years (2000 years) to come and collect
His bride in the middle of the night at the sounding of the trumpet (rapture). This
is what the Feast of Trumpets is all about; the Bride awaiting the Groom,
prepared and Holy, expecting the sound of His Coming.
Joh 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in YHVH, believe
also in Me. (2) In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not
so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (3) And if I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself,
so that where I am, you may also be.

The Prophetic Meaning of Yom Teruah

The Feast of Trumpets is the future event where Yshua will come to gather
His Bride. Many people know this as the Rapture or the Gathering of His
Bride and will take place at the time of the Tribulation. We read of these
events in the New Testament and quite interestingly see the word trumpet
quite frequently to highlight the significance of this Feast.

Mat 24:29-31 29 And immediately

AFTER THE TRIBULATION of those
days, the sun shall be darkened and the
moon shall not give her light, and the
stars shall fall from the heaven, and the
powers of the heavens shall be shaken.30
AND THEN the sign of the Son of Man
shall appear in the heavens. And then
all the tribes of the earth shall mourn,
and they shall see the Son of Man
coming in the clouds of the heaven with
power and great glory. 31 And He shall
send His angels with a great SOUND OF A TRUMPET, and they shall
gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the
other.
1Th 4:16-17 Because the Master Himself shall come down from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of a chief messenger, and with THE
TRUMPET of Elohim, and the dead in Messiah shall rise first. 17 Then
we, the living who are left over, shall be caught away together with
them in the clouds to meet the Master in the air and so we shall
always be with the Master.
1Co 15:51-53 See, I speak a secret to you: We shall not all sleep, but
we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at
the LAST TRUMPET. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be
raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible
has to put on incorruption, and this mortal to put on immortality.
The sounding of the trumpets This study is not to discuss pre-mid-post-trib
theories but underline the connection to the preparation of the Bride, the
Second Coming of Messiah and the blowing of Trumpets. We see from these
verses that the Gathering of the Bride will happen in the time of the
Tribulation at the sounding of the Trumpet which is linked to the Feast of
Trumpets.
In a Marriage we have the symbolism of the Groom carrying the
Bride over the Threshold of the house symbolising that he will
protect and provide for her. This is similar to what Yshua will do
when we meet Him in the Clouds where He will gather us in His
arms and land with His feet on the Mount of Olives, carrying us
over the Threshold into His Fathers House. The Kidron Valley is
the valley on the eastern side of The Old City of Jerusalem,
separating the Temple Mount from the Mount of Olives. The blood
of the sacrifices conducted in the Temple ran onto this valley and
taken away by its water running towards the Dead Sea. This
Valley forms the Threshold between the Mount of Olives and the
House of YHVH that Yshua will carry us over as a Groom
carrying His Bride into His Fathers House. People know this event as the
Rapture but it is actually physically fulfilling the Threshold Covenant YHVH
made with His Bride at the First Passover.

Preparation of the Bride

The two trumpets of Yom Teruah foreshadow things to come.
They were to be made of one piece of hammered silver
[Numbers 10:2].
Num 10:2 Make for yourself two trumpets of silver; of a
whole piece shalt thou make them; that you may use them for
the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the
camps.
Silver symbolises refinement and redemption. Hammered
trumpets tell us of the Father moulding us through tests and affliction. [James
1:2-4] The Father says of his two witnesses (two trumpets) Behold, I will refine
them in order to refine, perch, and make them pure, until the end of timeI
will refine them as silver and they will call on my Name, and I will answer
them I will say, they are my people, and they will say, YHWH is my
Elohim. [Zec 13:9] as a purifier of silver, He will purify and refineso that
they may present to YHWH offerings of righteousness
Jer 9:7-8 Therefore so says YHVH of Hosts, Behold, I will melt
them and try them; for what else can I do for the daughter of My
people? (8) Their tongue is a slaughtering arrow; it speaks deceit;
one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in heart
he lies in ambush.
Dan 11:35 And many of those who understand shall stumble, to
refine and purge them, and to make white, to the time of the end.
Because it is still for the appointed time (mo-ed).
Mal 3:3 And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver. And He
shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that
they may be offerers of a food offering in righteousness to YHVH.
Eze 20:35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people,
and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face.
The fire and the melting process describes the purification process the Bride
will go through in order to be ready for the Coming King. But first, these
hammered Bride must be taken to the wilderness where the Almighty will
deal with Her face to face. In seeing the face of the Holy One, these
transformed people (Bride) will be forever changed. He seeks to purify them in
this time of isolation.

Celebrating the Feast

The month of Elul is in the atmosphere of repentance, and the Orthodox Jews
will start this season with a mikvah or ritual bath symbolising repentance and
purification. The Feast of Trumpets or Yom Teruah is also known as Rosh
Hashanah, and this was changes during the time of their Babylonian captivity.

Between Yom Teruah and Yom Kippur, the 10 days are referred to as the
Days of Awe where people have the chance to repent to ensure their names
are written in the Book of Life. We as believers in Messiah believe that Yom
Kippur has to do with YHVHs Judgement and this time of repentance is
significant to us as well.
Personal Application: Yom Teruah is the starting point of the ten days of
repentance that leads to Yom Kippur, the day of the Fast. We as Believers
must use this time to do introspection and reflect back into our lives to see
if we have grown or move forward in our spiritual walk, or have moved
backwards, moving away from YHVH. This is a time to reflect on
relationships, and if you have anything against a brother of sister, then you
have to forgive and repent so that you know that your name will be in the
Book of Life. Unforgiveness is one of the things that can cause you to lose
your salvation and your name to be blotted out from the Book of Life.
Rev 3:3,5 Remember therefore how you have received and heard; hold
fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I will come upon you as
a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you. 5 He
who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot
out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before
My Father and before His angels. 6 He who has an ear, let him hear
what the Spirit says to the churches.
Blowing the Shophar / Trumpets: According to Jewish tradition the blowing
of the shophar consists of 100 blasts with 4 primary types of blasts. The
Scripture only specifies the blowing of the trumpets, and there is no detail on
how it is to be done. This means that it is more important to know why you
blow the shophar / trumpet than how you blow it.
Fruit Harvest: This Feast falls during the time of the fruit harvest and its
celebration goes hand in hand with the use of fruit as
decorations on the tables as well as the eating of fruit. The
Jewish custom is to eat apples dipped in honey, and we as
believers in Yshua connect this theme to the fruit of the
Spirit that will be evident during the time prior to the Second
Coming of Messiah, bringing the sweetness of His Salvation
to all nations to all those who overcame.
