Whats New in Room 102?

RELIGION
Our religion focus this week was
understanding the rosary. We
practiced the prayers of the
rosary and attended an all school
Living rosary on Friday. The kids
prayed the rosary with their 8th
grade buddies.

We finished our Apple and Bee unit.

We had a wonderful, educational
experience at the apple orchard.
The kids were well behaved and
asked interesting questions.
Next week, we will do a short unit
o n p umpkin s. We h ave a H U G E

garden, so it will be fun to visit the
g a r d e n fo r s o m e h a n d s - o n
experience!

LITERACY
Daily 5 went really well this week. I
feel that this week, we were able to get
some strong learning time together in
our small groups. We worked on sight
words, syllables, rhyming words,
beginning sounds, character/setting,
and handwriting.

FROM MRS. FEENEY

Your childs Friday bag came home this week.
Inside you will find:
1. ALPHABET BOOK
2. SIGHT WORD BOOK
3. LIBRARY BOOK
4. GUIDED READING BOOK

Please take some time to review the alphabet book

and sight words with your child. PLEASE return the
guided reading book to the plastic bag and place it
back into your childs Friday bag. Thank you!

There is no extra homework sheet this week.

I mentioned this at Open House, but if your child
would like to have a water bottle in the classroom,
that is fine with me. Research shows that drinking
water encourages brain growth, so making water
available for your child is something I am happy to
support.

The kids worked in math tubs.

FATHERS MASS
Fathers Mass is this Friday, October 14.
Fathers (or father substitutes) are asked to
meet their child at our classroom. Older
siblings meet fathers at our classroom, too.
Mass starts at 8:10 a.m. You may sit anywhere
in church. I traditionally take a photo of father
and child that is used for your childs end of
year video. If your childs father (or father
substitute) will not be attending Mass, please
let me know! Thank you!
