PRESS RELEASE
On October 7, 2016, The Madison Police Department took into custody Francis Sumner (DOB
01/13/1969) after a nearly twelve hour manhunt. Sumner is a Fugitive from Justice from both
Missouri and Ohio who is wanted for a carjacking in Ohio and a Probation Violation in Missouri.
The Madison Police Department would like to thank the individuals who notified the Madison Police Department of the suspicious vehicle and the individual who notified the department about the
suspicious person, which ultimately led to Sumner being taken into custody. We would also like to
thank the members of the public for their cooperation during this event.

The Madison Police Department is charging Sumner with a violation of C.G.S. 53a-167a: Interfering with an Officer and 53a-122: Larceny in the First Degree. Additionally Sumner is charged as a
Fugitive From Justice, C.G.S. 54-170, and is being held without bond. Sumner will appear at New
Haven Superior Court, G.A. 23 on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 0900 hours.
