GLOBAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE EVENT

The international community has greatly established diverse strategies to end impunity
across the globe. As a result of uncountable efforts from the international community, ICC, an
international criminal court was established to end impunity for offenders of the most serious
crimes. The founders of this court did not deliberate the role for regional courts to implement
criminal jurisdiction over crimes that would then be tried by the international criminal court.
Nevertheless, shared values as well as cultural heritage and geographical contiguity could
enhance better collaboration at the regional level in the battle against impunity. Of late, an event
concerning global criminal justice from regional perspective was held in the Hague Institute
for Global Justice.
During this event, the panel addressed the issue of regionalization of international
criminal justice and law, its practicability, and desirability. As well, most of the speakers
discussed whether regional courts interfere the international criminal court and that of
nationwide judicial systems by disintegrating international criminal law. The president of The
Hague Institute for Global Justice, Dr. Abi Williams, emphasized that regional strategies to
international criminal justice certainly have incredible prospective to maximize profits and
reduce costs.
The president stressed the need to eradicate impunity for global crimes, as a precise
objective in order to control uncivilized human rights abuses to happen. He added on the
requirements appropriate to accomplish such an objective, comprising the need for a practical
and innovative assurance among all criminal justice tools at hand. Various questions were also
addressed regarding the issue of liability for international crimes, including the issue of
