Mergers, acquisitions and deals

Pzer agrees to buy cancer drug company Medivation for $14 billion.
Unilever, the parent company of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) acquires Swedish rm Blueair, a leading player in mobile air
purication technology to complement its existing water purication business.
Genesys an omnichannel software company agrees to acquire Interactive Intelligence Group Inc. a cloud company in a deal
valued at about $1.4 billion.
Apple buys a machine-learning startup called Turi in a deal reported to be worth around $200 million.
Other important news
Japans cabinet approves an economic stimulus package worth 275 billion dollars in an attempt to kick-start the economy
and boost growth of the worlds third-largest economy. The Japanese government expects that this package will boost
gross domestic product (GDP) by 1.3%.
A US national security panel clears ChemChina's USD 43 billion takeover of Swiss pesticides and seeds group Syngenta.
Switzerland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Finland and Singapore lead the 2016 rankings in
the Global Innovation Index, released by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organization
(WIPO).
MetLife, Inc. a leading global provider of insurance, annuities and employee benet programs, announces that it has been
recognized with New Product and the Most Innovative Company of the Year in The 13th Annual International Business
Awards.
