Forestry Lab

By: Alexis Williams

October 4, 2016
Purpose: To learn how to calculate the weight and size of a tree and use this
information to calculate the intake of carbon dioxide and other factors about our
tree.

Conclusion: In the lab we figured out the height and weight of a specific type of
tree and used
mathematical
formulas to
determine other
presumed facts about
the tree. If the tree
were a different
height, weight, or
type the tree
outcome would be
different. This
information matters
in the real world
because by knowing
how to calculate the
amount of carbon
dioxide released into
the air by using
stoichiometry. The
independent variable
in the experiment
was the type of tree
and the dependent
variable was the
pounds of carbon
released.
