In this investigation, Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy Paul Martin is caught red handed leaving work several hours early to go home on multiple occasions. Seems his supervisor noticed he was constantly gone, yet there were no reports being filed for all of the police work he was supposedly doing while out in the field. After following him home on multiple occasions, and calling Martin and asking him where he was while observing his patrol car in the driveway of his home, Deputy Martin lied each time and claimed he was with the State Attorney, or interviewing a burglary victim, or any number of false stories each time. Sheriff Gualtieri would fire four deputies for "loafing" and publicize it in the paper when those deputies did nothing near as severe as Deputy Martin. Gualtieri protected Deputy Martin from being terminated.
