A Great Life Lesson: Dalai Lama s 18 Rules

1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk. If a great opportunity
isnt risky, then everyone would be doing, thus making it ordinary. Certainty in life can be comforting, but
also boring.
2. When you lose, dont lose the lesson. Because then you will not repeat the same mistakes again. But
also the fear of failure should not prevent you from trying, because in the end you will certainly be
successful.
3. Follow the three Rs:
1. Respect for self Self-respect also means self-confidence. You can only respect others ones you
respect yourself.
2. Respect for others so that they will respect you in return. Avoid weak/insecure/self-loathing
people.
3. Responsibility for all your actions You are the only one responsible for your actions, feelings or
success, because you are in complete control of your life. Blaming others is incorrect.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck. Sometimes
what you wish for is not necessarily good for you, but the Universe works in mysterious ways and should
be trusted.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. Rules are meant to be broken, but be
sure to do it properly in order to avoid punishment. There is no progress without questioning the
existing authority.
6. Dont let a little dispute injure a great friendship. A small fight is never as important as a
friendship.
7. When you realize youve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it. And the first step is
to apologize and take full responsibility, proving your character.
8. Spend some time alone every day. Use at least a half-hour by yourself in a quiet place to examine
your inner needs. The Law of Attraction is a great way to spend this time.
9. Open your arms to change, but dont let go of your values. Since the world is constantly changing,
and you are not the same as yesterday, welcome the new things that happen to you. Embrace the
change, but keep your core values intact.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer. A moment of silence can bring back the
logic in an argument, instead of the emotions that can cloud the judgment. Silence is a powerful tool

action.

11. Live
a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, youll be able to enjoy
it a

second time. Good things come to good people.

12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life. You cant have a direct control
over your family dynamic, but you can help keeping a relaxed home atmosphere by showing your family
that you love them. That will set a great foundation for the lives of your children.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Dont bring up the past.
Forgive the past actions and focus on the present.
14. Share your knowledge. Its a way to achieve immortality. You always learn new things, but if you
share your experience with others, you help them not to repeat your mistakes.
15. Be gentle with the earth. The earth is your home, so you should keep it clean and dont destroy it,
for the sake of your children.
16. Once a year, go someplace youve never been before. New experiences and new places will give
you more knowledge and will help you relax and see things from another perspective.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your
need for each other. Otherwise we speak about dependency, and not affection.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it. If you had to compromise
yourself or your loved ones in order to achieve something that was not really a success.
