classroom by using supportive measures in the following areas:
a. Organizational plan. Is the classroom structured or flexible? Is
instruction carried individually, by group? Or both?
b. Schedule. How are activities scheduled? Is time allotted properly for
each activity? What activities are planned as fillers?

record book? Do the students have individual portfolio to file actual
records of scored tests, assignments, artwork, etc.
d. Physical Environment. How is cleanliness maintained? Is there proper
ventilation? Lighting? Is the noise level appropriate? How are bulletin
boards and displays arranged? How is seating arranged? Is the seating
arrangement suited to learners? Do the classroom furniture match the
size of the students?
e. Discipline. How is discipline established? Is the approach to discipline
preventive? Describe?
f. Routines. How are routines established? What procedures are in place?
Describe these procedures.

OBSERVATION REPORT
Name of the School Observed: Dalandanan National High School
School Address: Dalandanan, Valenzuela City
Date of Visit: September 26, 2016

The classroom is primarily structured, though the teacher never failed to

insert some extra activities when needed. Instructions were carried out both
individually and by group.
Activities are planned prior to the discussion. The lesson usually stars in
reviewing the past lesson and then proceeds to the next lesson and finally
assessment activities. Whenever there are extra time left, group activities serves as
the filler.
The students have output notebooks where they put their activities, home
works, tests, quizzes, and seat works. The teacher also regularly checks the
attendance of his students.
The environment is not so conducive to learning. There is numerous
numbers of students in each section. Sometimes, students are even lacking with
chairs. There is also lack of electric fan. Ventilation is not quite good. In general,
classroom furniture does not fit the students. Nonetheless, the way the seating
arrangement is very creative. The teacher considers properly the capacity of the
students.
The students are well disciplined. The approach is highly preventive. The
teacher never failed to clear the rules and regulations to the students. They
clearly respect and obey the teacher.
At the beginning of the class, the teacher always expects that the classroom
is clean. Checking of attendance and arranging the chairs properly is well done
by the students without supervision.

Your Analysis

At the beginning of the

class, the teacher
always expects that the
classroom is clean.
Checking of attendance
and arranging the
chairs properly is well
done by the students
without supervision.

In what area of classroom management was the teacher most effective? Which of the
supportive measures were effective? Why?
I think he is very good in the area of discipline. The students are really well
disciplined before, during, and even after the discussion. Even the slow learners are
disciplined. I believe one supportive measure he used that made this possible is being a
role model. He sees to it that the rules and regulation theyve agreed upon is obeyed
primarily by him. This makes the students think of their action and somehow feel
embarrassed to the teacher. There is a sense of intimidation towards the teacher.
In what area of classroom management was the teacher least effective? Which of the
supportive measures were not effective? Why?
He is obviously least effective in terms of physical environment. Classrooms are
not conducive to learning. There is lack of chairs, furniture, appliances, and ventilation. I
think he failed on coordinating to the authorities or maybe he did but no action has been
done yet.

Suggest more effective ways for your answer in number 2.

I think it would be a great help if he is able to coordinate with the teachers.
Moreover, it can also be helpful for him that at least on some little ways he did
something. Little ways like opening the windows, bringing extra electric fans for the
students, etc. can do.

Your Reflections

1. Describe at least 3-5 characteristics of a teacher who can establish a well-managed

classroom?
- A well-managed classroom can be established by a teacher who serves as a role
model. These are teachers who obey their own rules. These teachers are those
behaviours are good examples for the student.
- A well-managed classroom can be established by a teacher who has conviction.
These are teachers who do what she/he has said.
- A well-managed classroom can be established by a teacher who loves the
students. These are passionate teachers. These are the one who wants nothing but
good things to the students. Teachers who are capable of doing anything for the
betterment of their students.
- A well-managed classroom can be established by a teacher who set his/her rules
clearly. These are teachers who have clear point of view how to make the class
organizes. These are teachers who do prior planning.
2. What characteristics do you have at present that can make you an effective
classroom manager? Elaborate how these characteristics can help you?
I think being serious and passionate in what I am doing can help me regarding
that matter. I once had been a high school student and based on my experience I
never obeyed teachers who are not worthy. Being serious in what you are doing and
imposing is very essential for the student to respect and obey you. Being passionate,
on the other hand, means that I will do anything for the sake of the students.
Therefore, I will see to it that I will study the techniques and strategies about
classroom management.

3. What characteristics do you have at present that can hamper you from becoming
an effective classroom manager? How can you overcome these characteristics?
I think being short tempered can hinder me in managing the classroom effectively.
This is often happening during discussion. Whenever students are not listening or
doing something I usually confront them that it will consume too much time. I
think being more understanding and patient will help me overcome this.
