Making Wooden SABBOT Blocks

I have taken all the Thinking out of this project...the rest is up to you!!
Youve probably seen this idea before... only now its Pagan/Wiccan. And Ill be honest, personally, I have
only finished sanding and burning the first of the three sets, which is really all you would need. The first
set (which is distinguished by a TRIANGLE) if the basic set of sabbot blocks (13 of them)... The other two
sets work together to elaborate on the Sabbot...though I havent finished sanding my 2nd and 3rd sets...I
couldnt wait to share this with others like yourself.

WHAT YOULL NEED:

-- 13 Wooden blocks - the size is up to you...but 1 1/2 square blocks work really well (too much bigger
and you are going to need one long mantle to display them on). Now you can buy small mostly prepared
square blocks from your craft store...some sanding on the edges may be required....this is not what I did....
instead my wonderful husband bought a 2x2 board - which actually turns out to be 1 1/2 x 1 1/2... so cut
it into 1 1/2 squares. (the boards come in 8 foot lengths...you can get all 3 sets out of one board)
-- you will need 9 blocks for set 2 and 9 blocks for set 3 plus 1 extra block as an additional blank spacer.
you really should cut a few extra blocks anyways - just incase of mistakes!
-- a STENCIL (if using 1 1/2 blocks youll need 1 stencil letters. (some letters may not fit and some fudging will be required to get the letter to fit on the block)... OR you can free hand your letters.
-- Acrylic Paint or you can use a Woodburning Tool.
-- Sandpaper (150 grit), A permanent Marker, ruler and pencil
-- you can choose to seal or stain at your own discreation...I chose to do nothing.
-- LETTER Placement charts for each set (Included in this file)

WHAT TO DO:

-- Once you have your blocks, sand down

the sides and edges. Then wipe clean, I
used a little vinegar on a rag to wipe off the
dirt n sawdust, then let them dry.
-- Once dry I marked off the blocks...you
will want to only burn/paint on 4 sides
(the top should be left blank and the bottom will be marked with numbers and a
set symbol - see image to right) If you
have cut your blocks from a board you will
only want to work with the four original
sides not the 2 ends that were cut with
the blade. Find the bottom of each block
and number 1 - 13 in the center of the area
with your permanent marker, than in one
corner draw a small TRIANGLE (to mark that the block belongs to set 1)...especially if you are going to
make or may make the other two sets.
-- Now using the key code or LETTER Placement I have provided, mark out / center your stencil on the
block and trace with your pencil - MAKE SURE your numbers 1-13 are on the bottom of the block as you
trace your letters on. TIP: you may want to make a small line about 1/4 or so from the bottom of the
block to give you a straight line of words when your blocks are all lined up.
-- Once your letters are all stenciled / penciled on, you can paint them in or woodburn them.
-- I suggest you have a very nice box to keep all your blocks safely stored in...plus you can print off my
REFERENCE sheet, to keep in the box, use it to make constructing the words / phrases easier.

EXAMPLES:

The font used to help make the lETTER placement charts (see the following pages) is BABY BLOCKS (true type font) (c)

SET 1: TRIANGLE

**Note: Set 1: TRIANGE ... I have given you 2 options for this set.... if you are content with my choices of
words (see my word guide) than use side 4a....side 4 is not necessary......And could be left blank...the letters
choosen for side 4 are just for convinence of having multiple word combinations... IF, because some traditions
use different words - you need other words feel free to leave off side 4A and insert the letters to words you need
making 4b. Becareful though - if you are using side 4B in combination with other letters in the set on other
sides, that particular block can only be used for that letter of the word. Block 7 has a side with S on it.
