global cues,
muted demand
NEW DELHI: Snapping its
five-day rising streak, gold
prices slipped by Rs 30 to
Rs 31,520 per 10 grams at
the bullion market on Friday

spot market and a weak trend
overseas.
Ho wever, silver held
steady at Rs 46,800 per kg
in scattered deals from industrial units.
Traders said besides a
su bdued trend in global
market, easing demand from
jewel lers and retailers at
prevailing levels led to fall
in gold prices. Globally, gold
fell 0.19 per cent to USD
1,334.20 an ounce in Singapore. In the national capital, gold of 99.9 per cent and
99.5 per cent purity declined
by Rs 30 each to Rs 31,520
and Rs 31,370 per 10 grams,
respectively.
The precious metal had
gained Rs 550 in the previous five sessions. (PTI)

MUMBAI: A day after Fedfuelled rally, stocks slipped

with the Sensex falling 105
points to 28,668.22, dragged
down by investors booking
profit in recent gainers, like
banking stocks, amid weak
global cues.
However, for the week,
equities posted their third
weekly gain in four as the
Sensex and Ni fty gained
69.19 points or 0.24 per cent
and 51.70 points or 0.58 per
cent, respectively.
Banking sto cks, which
had witnessed heavy buying on Thu rsday came
down sharply as investors
cut down their exposure.
Private sector lender Axis
Bank was the biggest loser
on the day, plunging 5.84
per cent to Rs 557.40, while
ICICI Bank lost 1.36 per cent

to Rs 271.80 and SBI fell 1.15

per cent to Rs 254.40.
Shares of L&T Technology Services, an arm of engineering giant Larsen and
Toubro, made a decent debut on the bourses and ended 0.59 per cent higher at
865.10 over the issue of price
of Rs 860. Int ra-day, it
touched a high of Rs 931.
"With key event risks of
FOMC-BoJ behind, derivatives' unwinding was seen
in markets, especially with
F&O expiry falling next
week," said Anand James,
Chief Market Strategist, Geojit BNP Paribas. After opening a shade higher at
28 ,810 .32, the 30 -share
Sensex touched a high of
28,825.09, but slipped later
to 28,627.38 before ending

forward on GST implementation, the Centre and states
on Friday reached an agreement o n keepi ng t raders
with annual revenue of Rs
20 lakh out of the new national sales tax regime that
will subsume all cesses.
While the two sides, at
the meeting of the GST
Council, agreed on the contentious issues of revenue
threshold - below whi ch
traders will be exempted
from GST, and sharing of
administrative powers, the
all crucial GST rates will be
decided in the meeting to be
held on October 17-19.

Rs 20 lakh for all states with
the exception of north eastern and the hill states where
