3) The document also discusses two similar films, Shutter Island and Secret Window, that deal with themes of mental illness and unreliable realities/personalities, and how the filmmaking techniques could inspire the director's portrayal of a protagonist with mental health issues.

Comparable products When drafting ideas for our first production we decided to look into similar productions within the dramatic thriller as well as productions that are centred around mental illness
Shutter Island (2010)
This film is based around a U.S Marshal who investigates the disappearance of a murderess who escaped from a hospital for the crimically insane on this island, however, in the end the audience learn that not everything is as it seems and in actuality the protagonist is suffering with schizophrenia and the verisimilitude he has created does not correlate with reality. We took note of the camera angles present in these films as it helps the audience to focus on the facial expressions of the protagonist and will allow Sophie as the director to communicate the type of expression she will expect someone with a mental illness to display.
Secret Window (2004)
Elise Thompson
This film follows the narrative of writer Mort
Rainey who relocates to a remote cabin in attempt to recover from his split personality disorder he meets a farmer who claims Rainey plagiarized his work. The farmer begins to get vicious in his quest of retribution. This relates to our production as Adam suffers from the same disorder in which he adapts different personalities that differs from his. Once again the cinematography within the production would have given our director an insight into the types of facial expressions and the uses of editing techniques able to portray the mental instability of our protagonist.
