I found this photo of my great-grandfather


yesterday.
His name was Gilbert West. Dad told me that
his family called him West because he moved in
California and became a gold miner.
When he was seven years old, he was very
interested in reading history books. Besides, his
favourite game was to dig deep holes in the
ground to see if there were hidden treasures!
As you can see, he was short and chubby and he had white hair and a white
beard and moustache. People said he looked like Santa and I think its true!
Dad also told me that he was very rich in California, but then he came back to
New York with his family and wrote books about his experiences.
Ill continue asking dad about my great-grandfather!
