— Electrical Network Analysis. te Course Code EF-2203 1 Year 2 “a Semester —— - Course Duration (16 Weeks of study) Credit Hours 341 | Course Instructors Zainab Bilal é A. Course Description: The main objective of this course is to equip the students with the knowledge and techniques of analyzing electrical networks. The course requires basic concepts and knowledge related to circuit analysis and theorems taught in linear circuit analysis. The course introduces linear circuits {comprising resistors, capacitors and inductors) excited by sinusoidal sources. Alternating current power analysis and poly-phase circuits are introduced next. Prerequisite Course(s): Linear Circuit Analysis Co requisite Course(s): None }. Course Goals and Objectives: 1) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science,,and engineering. 2) Anability to design a system, component, process to meet desired needs within realistic eS constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability. : the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for ' First-order Differential E Initial conditions in Networks” Differential Equations The Laplace Transformation and Application of Laplace transform in circuit analysis. Sadiku, "Fundamentals of Electric Circuits", McGraw- Hill, 4th Edition, 2008 - Teaching and Learning Strategies: The primary ‘emphasis will be on enhancing students’ understanding of the various concepts of Network Analysis. Class discussion, class quiz and class assignments and their 1s will be used to ensure the understanding of the basic concepts and their tionally, at the end of every lecture, participants will be given the class tasks and home ‘assignments related to the topic covered during the lecture. _ Assessment Criteria: ipa. 1) Semester Work 40% which includes the following © Mid Term: 20% ~ © Assignments and Quiz : 10% + 10% 2) Final Semester Test: 60% (Objective + Subjective) 10% + 50% Evaluation is based on how students will perform in class and their activities. Performance of the students will be monitor throughout the semester. The examination will test the student's understanding of various concepts discussed during the course. The written examination fequires students to complete a theoretical paper covering all aspects of the course udents will be working on assignments individually as well as in team (groups) The st the semester and can be taken randomly in the class. Presentation will be regular feature of NOTE: Students will have to score 40% marks in semester work to qualify for final exams and to qualify the semester they have to get 60% marks in final semester exam, ATTENDENCE CRITERIA: 85%
