UNIT 5

1. take a shower to wash your body

2. gym - a club where you can go to exercise and keep fit.

3. get up - rise from bed after sleeping

4. breakfast- a meal eaten in the morning

5. busy- working hard, or giving your attention to a particular thing


6. diary- a book in which you record your thoughts or feelings or what has

happened each day

UNIT 6
1. holiday- an official day when you do not have to go to work or school

2. envelope- a flat, usually square or rectangular, paper container for a letter

3. candle- a stick-shaped piece of wax with a wick


4. fireworks- a small device that explodes to make a display of light and noise

5. throw- to cause (something) to move out of your hand and through the air by

quickly moving your arm


6. calendar- a printed table showing all the days, weeks, and months of the year

7. luck- the force that causes things, especially good things, to happen to you by

chance
8. traditional- based on old-fashioned ideas : not new, different, or modern

UNIT 7
1. hall- the room just inside the main entrance of a house, apartment, or other

building that leads to other rooms and usually to the stairs


2. kitchen- a room where food is kept, prepared, and cooked and where the dishes
are washed

3. living room- the room in a house or apartment that is used for relaxing in and

entertaining guests
4. balcony- an area with a wall or bars around it that is joined to the outside wall of
a building on an upper level

5. attic- the space or room at the top of a building, under the roof, often used for
storing things

6. bathroom - a room with a bath and/or shower and often a toilet

UNIT 8

1. next to-at the side of (someone or something)


2. armchair- a comfortable chair with sides that support your arms:

3. between- in or into the space that separates two places, people, or objects

4. pirate- a person who sails in a ship and attacks other ships in order to steal from

them
5. sword- a weapon with a long metal blade that has a sharp point and edge

6. cozy- small, comfortable, and warm


7. under- in or to a position below or lower than something else

8. parrot- a tropical bird with a curved beak, often kept as a pet and trained to copy
the human voice

UNIT 9
1. fable a short story that usually is about animals and that is intended to teach a
lesson

2. wizard- a man who is believed to have magical powers and who uses them to

harm or help others


3. biography- the story of a real person's life written by someone

4. adventure- an unusual, exciting, and possibly dangerous activity, such as a trip

or experience
5. ability- the physical or mental power or skill needed to do something:

6. fantasy- a story that describes situations that are very different from real life,

usually involving magic

UNIT 10

1. character -a person represented in a film, play, or story

2. ugly- unpleasant to look at; not attractive:

3. furry- covered with fur

4. brave- feeling or showing no fear : not afraid


5. personality- the type of person you are, shown by the way you behave, feel, and
think:

6. save- to stop someone or something from being killed, injured, or destroyed:

7. monster- any imaginary frightening creature, especially one that is large and
strange:

8. clever- intelligent and able to learn things quickly
