Nine Star Pharmacists

Pharmacists have been increased recently. In America, pharmacist is included into Top 5
Happiest Job because of many factors, like salary and the effect of the job for daily life. Payscale
research showed that the average of pharmacists reached USD100,000. Pharmacists also felt that
helping people to be healthy is part of their happiness. Thats why many people want to be a pharmacist.
But, pharmacist is not an easy job. Even to be a pharmacist takes a long process. We have to
learn many aspects like advance chemistry, biology, until psychology. It has to be learned to get some
skills that a pharmacist has to have.
There is something called Nine Star Pharmacist which is a concept from WHO. WHO
introduced this concept since 2014. It is consists of nine skills which a pharmacist has to have. Its
consist of:
1. Care Giver: Providing a health care service as it finest.
2. Decision Maker: Take an appropriate and safe decision to decide a proper action for the
use of the resources (e.g. medicine and personnel).
3. Communicator: Convey complete information with a good delivery to the patient.
4. Manager: Manage and develop the resources including the personnel, drug label
information, and financial resources to control the quality of medicine.
5. Life-Long Learner: Always update the knowledge until die.
6. Teacher: Giving knowledge to anyone to improve their quality.
7. Leader: Expert to maintain the performance of the other members of the team to keep the
pharmaceutical quality high
8. Researcher: Obtain new thing and information to improve health care services.
9. Entrepreneur: Has a good business managing skill, especially to drugstores owner.
From the explanation above, we can conclude that to be a good pharmacist we have to obtain so
much skill. As a pharmacys student, we have to be proud and ready to get these skills and playing the
vital role in life. Dont stop learning and be a star of pharmacy!
