FOREWORD

This Questionnaire is prepared by the JICA Survey Team (hereinafter the Team) assigned to the
Preparatory Survey on the Development of Solar Street Lighting in Syrian Arab Republic
(hereinafter the Project).
The data, material and information which are to be provided in response to this Questionnaire will
comprise vital parts of the Project, complementing the site survey, interviews and conferences
conducted by the Team.

This Questionnaire is expected to be answered by July 22nd 2009.

-GENERAL1 All documents must be written in English with date of issue and information on source.
2 Existing information, report, literature, publications, etc, (photocopy or original) regarding the
Project must be submitted.
3 If related information, report, literature, publications, etc, regarding the Street Lighting are
available in market, please advise us.
4 If the above items are not available, please advise us immediately.

Note: Questionnaire from 1 to 3 is first priority to implement the Project.

1. Location of the Project
The location of the Project is assumed for Main Street in Damascus City or some section of
Damascus Dara Highway or Main Street in Damascus City.
Please kindly clarify the location of the Project.
2. Design Standard of Setting of Street Lighting
The Team adopts the Syrian standards for setting of street lighting. Please kindly provide the
standard of street lighting as follows;
Luminance
Kind of illuminant
Height of light bulb from grand level
Interval of the street lighting
Size of basement of the street lighting
Condition of land use along the street for setting the street lighting
3. The street Lighting project list
If Ministry of Transport has plan of the street lighting project in future, please kindly provide the
information as follows,;

6. Technical Level for Construction of the Street Lighting
The Team understands that O/M of street lighting is commissioned to Syria Company for Electrical
work and Communication. To survey technical level of O/M and construction of street lighting,
please kindly introduce contact persons who O/M and construction company in Syria.
7. Natural Condition
To make a plan for Solar Street Lighting, the Team has to survey natural condition in Syria especially
sunshine. Please kindly provide the information related natural condition as follows;
Temperature
Humidity
Rainfall
Hors of sunshine

 Solar radiation

8. Regulation of Underground Utility

Generally, street lighting and under ground utilities (water supply, sewerage, gas pipe, etc.) will be
set inside Right of Way. Basement of street lighting should avoid underground utilities.
Please kindly provide the information of existing underground utilities at the expected Project site
and regulation.
9. Topographic survey
If topographic survey is needed at the Project site in the Project, please kindly provide the
information of department and system to submit an application for permission of topographic survey.
10. Land Acquisition
If solar street lighting of the Project affects private land along the street, please kindly provide
information of department for land acquisition and social environmental.
11. Others
If MOT have any issue to plan, O/M and/or set of street lighting, please inform to the Team.
