The path of electrons through the 3 respiratory enzyme complexes

In the mitochondrion, the 3 complexes are asymmetrically oriented in the

inner membrane and they are linked in series as electron-transport-driven
H+ pumps that pump proton out of the matrix
During the transfer of electron from NADH to oxygen, ubiquinone and
cytochrome serve as mobile carriers that ferry electrons from one
complex to the next.
Protons are pumped across the membrane by each of the respiratory
enzyme complexes. NADH is a coenzyme that functions as a
regenerating electron donor in catabolic processes.
