Goals are a very important aspect of planning and it plays a significant role in
coordination of resources in various situations. Since expectations should be met through goalsetting, performance of the team is greatly enhanced. Moreover, the need to meet the necessary
goals increases the motivation within the group. Habitat must develop a clear goal on how to
spend their gift and manage it accordingly. Their main goal is to provide housing and homes
through various sources of funds to produce a positive impact for families that are in need.
Proper allocation of finance allows the organization when to put the money in use depending on
the given situation and demand. In terms of their short-term goal, Habitat may set an operational
goal for benchmarks of building process based on increments of funding within the timeframe
received. This goal would comprise the procedure of obtaining and acquiring building and
construction materials from suppliers. It should have a layout of schedules to ensure completion
of goals and projects.
What planning challenges do you think Habitat executives face with getting the
most use out of this gift? How should they cope with those challenges?
Managing a large amount of financial donations can be a challenging task for the
executives. To be able to reach a consensus among executives can take time due to the proper
determination of immediate needs of the organization. Another challenge is the varying prices of
and construction materials which could differ from the initial budget allocation during the
planning stage. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization which relies on donations and

volunteers among the community. A sudden increase in materials and labors can leave the
executives in dire need of additional resources. To cope up with these challenges, there should be
effective communication during the planning stage and goal setting of the organization Since it is
a non-profit organization, they should start developing partnership with other institutions, private
organization and public bodies in cases of unpredictable circumstances. They should also
encourage commitment from various donors to ensure continuity of projects as well as the
organization.
