TV Scheduling

There are many things to think about when scheduling a TV programme.

Some things that need to be thought about are: what channel it will be
broadcasted on, what time of day the programme will be broadcasted &
what day of the week the programme will be broadcasted. These
questions are particularly important for new TV programmes and they are
important for maximising audience.

Three Key Concepts

1. Inheritance Scheduling after a programme so it inherits some
of the audience
2. Pre-Echo Scheduling before a popular programme, hoping some
of the audience tune in early and see the end of the programme.
3. Hammocking Scheduling a programme so the new programme
gets the benefit from inheritance and pre-echo.

Channel Loyalty
This was a key concept to do with TV Scheduling in the 1970s and 1980s.
In the post-digital age, channel loyalty is not a concept anymore because
we have a remote and at least 40 channels.
