A13 Wennington to Mar Dyke, Essex

Abberton Dam, Essex

Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station, Somerset

Dual 3-lane road partly constructed through an area of landfill

containing domestic reuse up to 8m thick. Hydrogeological
assessment was undertaken to assist in the design of a multilayered containment system to prevent pollution migration,
especially to the adjacent Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

A combined geotechnical and hydrogeological investigation was

undertaken to assess the condition of Abberton Dam, which is
650m long, up to 16m high and some 70 years old. The dam
had been repaired following a major slip which occured during
its construction in 1937.

Hydrogeological investigation and modelling of the site and

environs of a proposed nuclear power station at a coastal site.

Cardiff Bay Barage, Gwent

Piezometers were used to establish the long-term hydraulic

behaviour of the dam. The reservoir and dams slope stability
were assessed, taking account of the hydrogeological conditions,
the evidence of historical instability and seismic activity.

Development of a hydrogeological model for a 100 hectare ash

disposal mound. The model was used to simulate the flows,
flow paths and flow rates through the mound and the effects on
the underlying natural ground water regime.

A3 Road Tunnels, Hindhead, Surrey

Burj al Arab Hotel, Dubai

A hydrogeological conceptual model of the site was developed,

with particular emphasis on short and long-term groundwater
level variations, to inform the tunnel design and the selection of
tunnelling methodologies.

Design of a major resort hotel to be built on a man-made offshore island required detailed seepage modelling to evaluate
pore-water pressures during proposed temporary works,
including a coffer-dam and cut-off grout curtain.

Hydrogeological assessment of a cut-off system to restrict

seepage beneath the barrage structure, as part of the tender
design. Hydrogeological modelling was undertaken of
temporary and permanent works under both steady-state and
transient conditions.

Reedness Flood Embankments, River Ouse, Yorkshire

Assessment of hydrogeological conditions was carried out as
part of an investigation into the stability of the embankments
during various potential flood events and extreme tides.
