Topic: The Difference between < The Iroquois Creation Story > and Bible

Introduction (Paragraph 1)
A. Hook
Different people believe in different creation myths according to their culture, religion, and
tribe and so on.
B. Connecting information
<The Iroquois Creation Story> is telling us how their nation, North America was created.
Iroquois is a league of several nations or tribes of indigenous people of North America. They
were based in what is now the northeastern United States, primarily in what is referred to
today as upstate New York west of the Hudson River and through the Finger Lakes region.
Today, the Iroquois live primarily in New York, Quebec, and Ontario. The people have passed
it on mouth to mouth so that it became a collective work.
C. Thesis statement:
<The Iroquois Creation Story> and Bible have differences in the aspect of the creator and
creatures.

II. Body
A. Paragraph 2 (first point of comparison) topic sentence
There is a difference between the two stories in the aspect of creator.
1. God is one and only with one mind but the twins in <The Iroquois Creation Story>, who are
described as creators, have two different minds.
a. God had no conflict but the twins fought against each other since they were in the
womb.

B. Paragraph 3 (second point of comparison) topic sentence


The situations before-and-after the creators in the two stories are different.
1. There was nothing at the first time in Christian creation story but there were upper and
lower lands, and creatures were already existed in <The Iroquois Creation Story>.
a. God is the only and real creator of the whole world because he made everything with his

word.
b. The twins do not seem to be the real creator of the world since there were already
existing things in <The Iroquois Creation Story>.
C. Paragraph 4 (third point of comparison) topic sentence:
The two stories have difference in the aspect of creatures.
1. In <The Iroquois Creation Story>, it seems there is a connection between the physical
things.
a. The turtle grew larger and finally became a land, and the nature is made by maternal
body.
2. According to Bible, God said and things existed.
a. The creation was progressed with orders and sequences.

D. Paragraph 5 (fourth point of comparison) topic sentence


There is a difference of seeing the evil between the two stories.
1. God created evil, but it is appeared as a creator in <The Iroquois Creation Story>.
a. In Bible, the evil is shown as a snake and it disobeyed God and seduced Adam and
Eve.
b. In <The Iroquois Creation Story>, the evil is one of the twins and also a creator.

III. Conclusion (Paragraph 5)


A. Restate thesis
<The Iroquois Creation Story> and Bible have differences in the aspect of the creator and
creatures.
B. Suggestion, opinion, or prediction:
Although there are various dissimilarities between Bible and <The Iroquois Creation Story>,
both of the two stories are creation myths and they are important for showing the way the
people see themselves in relation to nature, the world, and the universe.
