The general objective of the project is to study the distribution of chlorpyrifos in water,

sediment and organisms, and migration of chlorpyrifos in surface water samples using
green analytical methods
Specific objectives:

development, implementation and validation of rapid, green ecological, advanced

and cost-effective analytical methods for the extraction of chlorpyrifos from surface
water, sediment and organisms: Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and Solid Phase
Microextraction (SPME), prior to quantitative determination;

use of high performance chromatographic techniques: gas chromatography coupled

with mass spectrometry (GC-MS), gas chromatography with electron capture
detection (GC-ECD);

determination of chlorpyrifos levels in surface water, sediment and organisms

samples;

assessment of the migration, distribution, accumulation, persistence and

transformation (metabolism) of chlorpyrifos in surface water in the studied areas;

results disseminated by scientific papers and conference presentations;

patent proposal for the green analytical methods.
