Air Conditioning System Using Vehicle Suspension

Abstract:

Fuel efficiency is one of the most desirable properties of present day cars. But during high
load condition, fuel efficiency of vehicles is often very low. A portion of the power produced
by the engine is used to run the compressor of the air conditioning system of automobile,
contributing to its lower fuel efficiency. This project focuses on using suspension system of
vehicles for producing compressed air and AC effect, instead of depending on engine power.
Current air-conditioning systems can reduce the fuel economy of even high fuel economy
vehicles. In present day vehicles, there is wastage of energy in suspension system, where its
linear motion can be used to compress the air by using piston-cylinder arrangement. By using
this compressed air, we can operate the air conditioning system in the car and can thus
increase its fuel economy. This can be very much useful for Indian conditions because of
geographical layout.
