Costume Notes
Eve:
Eve is a conservative character that has a very minimalistic fashion
sense suited to her unidentifiable identity. Although presented as the
sane protagonist we wanted to dress her in all black just like most of
the other characters to act as a motif to her antagonistic behaviour
that pursues throughout the latter part of the text. Therefore Eve will
be dressed in:
Trainers
Bomber Jacket

A crop top

Leggings

Hoodie

We dressed Eve in many layers to reinforce the representation of her

many layers of her personalities. The slight white on Eves trainers is a
connotation of the prosperity for this character and this focus on the
trainers in a worms eye view shot is significant of the restored
equilibrium available for Eve.
Myles:
Myles is represented as aggressive and abusive towards females as he
shouts and physically harms his girlfriend Emel and is threatening
towards Eve. For him the black he wears is a connotation of his
antagonistic behaviour as stereotypically antagonists are dressed in
dark colours. Therefore Myles will be dressed in:
Trainers
Hoodie

Jeans

Long sleeve polo

Emel:
Emel is the only character within the text that Eve does not latch onto
within the text as she is overshadowed by Myles aggresive impulse
and her wearing black is ultimately so she blends into the rest of the
characters in the text, however we decided to dress her in white
trainers to incorporate the connotation of Emels innocence within the
text also. Therefore Emel
will be dressed in:
Trainers
Bomber jacket

Jeans

Damion:
Damion is represented, as a very strange character the name Damion is
similar to the word demon and such as the intertextuality of the name
Eve we can relate this to the name with biblical references as demons are
embodiments of the devil and Eve was tempted by a demon in the form of
a snake to steal from the Garden of Eden. Therefore, Daimon is important
in establishing a reason for the audience as to why Eve is driven to look at
the worst in peoples characteristics and then replicate them. Related to
the Daimons demonic character he will be dressed in all black to connote
his antagonistic aspect. Therefore Daimon will be dressed in:
Trainers

Jeans

Bomber jacket

Saura:
Saura is represented as severely depressed and suicidal, we wanted to
communicate her insecurity to the audience by ensuring she was
completely covered up in terms of her clothing, she is the only
character that is not dressed in fully black but is dressed in red and
black. The connotation behind this is danger and death related to her
suicidal thoughts. The red jumper is symbolic of the blood that
emerges from her skin when she cuts herself and related back to the
biblical reference is the same colour of the apples in the Garden of
Eden so the costume and presentation of the different characters is
mirroring the linear narrative of the Adam and Eve story. Therefore
Saura will be dressed in:
Trainers
Leggings

An oversized jumper
