2.2 note, you need to start with the transport momentum balance

dP
+ g=0 to account for how
dz

the density changes with temperature and temperature changes (linearly) with position z.

SP 47 Water enters a storage tank at a rate of 1000 kg/min at 20 oC. The water in the tank is heated and stirred
so that the mixed water temperature in the tank is constant at 80 oC. The 80 oC water exits the tank in two pipe
lines (A and B). Line A has an inside diameter of 2.66 cm and the water flows at an average velocity of 140
cm/sec. Line B has a flow rate of 900 liters per minute. What is the mass rate of accumulation (or depletion) of
water in the tank?

SP 68

Review of Transport Phenomena. A Newtonian fluid flows through a horizontal cylindrical pipe at
steady isothermal laminar flow conditions. Derive an expression for the velocity profile of the fluid as a
function of position (r) and the operating (pressure) and geometric (tube length and diameter)
parameters. (Use mass and momentum equations to derive the velocity profile).
