Redesigned air cleaner over helps prevent contact with the quick-release
quarter-turn Dzus air box fasteners, providing tool-less access to the
air filter thats positioned at the front of the bike avoiding roost from

Updated rear brake rotor material that has better heat resistance
providing better durability and braking feel.

New Dunlop MX3S tires

For 2017, the YZ450F features soft-to-intermediate terrain tires, the

the bike to provide class-leading mass centralization. Concentrating the
motorcycles key componentsengine, fuel tank and exhaust system
toward the center of the motorcycle achieving light and nimble on track
handling performance. Additionally, providing a straight shot,
downdraft intake and a symmetrical port layout for smooth controllable
power delivery throughout the RPM range.

Advanced Fuel Injection
The engine breathes through a 44mm throttle body fed by a high
pressure electric pump to ensure optimum fuel atomization and power
for a wide range of riding conditions, instantly adjusting the air/fuel
mixture for changing altitude or temperature.

Wraparound Rear-Positioned Exhaust Layout

An innovative exhaust pipe design is adopted to increase mass
centralization and improve power development characteristics. This
layout moves the rear end of the exhaust pipe farther forward and
enables a muffler position close to the center of the mass.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION:

Bilateral Beam Aluminum Frame

Yamahas renowned aluminum bilateral beam frame that features overall
dimensions that are roughly the same as the frame of the YZ250F. This
gives the YZ450F a compact chassis that provides the most instinctive
handling in the 450 motocross class.
