Temples

Rivers
Baths

HOw they traveled?


Nowadays, most people normally travel by car. We may walk, skateboard, or ride our bikes. However, in
ancient rome people traveled by

Foot
Springless carriage
Chariots
Carts pulled by oxen

Rich People traveled by


Domesticated Horses
Covered wagons for long journeys

ANcient ROman Roads...


ROman soldiers had spent the time to make roads that were quite advanced and reliable for their
time. The process included

Setting the curb stones


Digging a long pit
Filling the pit with a layer of rocks, sand, or gravel
Then add a layer of finer gravel and concrete
Paved with rock slabs
Finally, Add a thin layer of more concrete

Reached a total length of 74,500 miles


Resisted freezing and flooding because of the layers of rock
Were 8 feet long width if the road was straight
Were 16 long width if the road curved
Connected cities
Were named after the censor who built them
Maintained by the local magistrates
The owners of the land it was on had to pay 50% of the cost
