Sample: is its going to be a great course because of the interesting subjects.


Target: anthropology class.
Property in question: whether or not he will like his anthropology class.
2. Analogical argument.
Analogues: martinis and food.
Basis of Comparision: quality of the martini
Feature in Question: quality of the food
Fallacies: Hasty Generalization, she is generalizing the whole restaurant has bad
food just because she had a bad martini.
3. Inductive generalization.
Sample: North Carolinians
Target: North Carolina
Property in question: are the people in North Carolina friendly.
4. Inductive generalization.
Sample: Uncle Bob
Target: Agnes disregarding the reports she read about fair-skinned, blonde, blueeyed people having problems with sun exposure.
Property in Question: whether the reports Agnes read are true or not.
Fallacies: Biased generalization, her uncle is only one person that has not had
problems with being in the sun too long, but there are many others who have had
problems with overexposure.
5. Inductive generalization.
Sample: ONE glass of wine if good for you
Target: 5 or 6 glasses of wine if good for you
Property in question: whether or not 5 or 6 glasses of wine havea negative effect on
Mr. Holic.
6. Inductive generalization.
Sample: George, Howies wife, those who lost jobs when safeway closed.
Target: the country in question
Property in question: whether or not they are living in rough times.

Analogues: College Professors
Basis of Comparision: Study by 2 new psychologists and study done by Smalley and
John Mason
Feature in Question: whether or not most adult Americans are introverted or
extroverted.
Fallacies: n/a
8. Analogical Argument
Basis of comparison: grade average of a B and her expected grades for the next
term
Feature in question: will her grades improve if she studies with other students in the
next term.
Fallacies: Hasty Generalization, she has had no experience studying with others to
make a prediction about the next term.
Juanitas argument is weak because her grade average was a B when she studied
alone. She has no experience with studying with others so it is unreasonable to
make an argument that he grades will be better when studying with others.
9. Inductive Generalization.
Sample: the survey of 1000 callers and the amount of people who were
"recreational" users
Target: the callers
Property in question: Most people who use drugs are not the "recreational type".
10. Analogical argument
Analogues: the people that says he's a pain to work for and Goldman
Property in question: Whether or not Goldman deserves the award
Fallacies: Hasty generalization, people that said he's a pain to work for might be
biased or they may be bad workers and Goldman may be harder on them.
