Hymn of Praise

Unison Scripture
1 PETER 4:10-11 (NLT)

I AM ON THE
BATTLEFIELD
CHORUS

God has given each of you a gift

from his great variety of spiritual
gifts. Use them well to serve one
another. 11Do you have the gift of
speaking? Then speak as though
God himself were speaking through
you. Do you have the gift of helping
others? Do it with all the strength
and energy that God supplies. Then
everything you do will bring glory to
God through Jesus Christ. All glory
and power to him forever and ever!
Amen.

I am on the battlefield for my Lord.

I am on the battlefield for my Lord,
and I promised Him that I would
Serve Him til I die;
I am on the battlefield for my Lord.

VERSE 1

I was alone and idle, I was a sinner too.

I heard a voice from heaven
Say there is work to do.
I took the Masters hand,
And I joined the Christian band;
I am on the battlefield for my Lord.

VERSE 2

I left my friends and kindred,

Im bound for the Promised Land,
The grace of Gods upon me,
The Bibles in my hands.
In distant lands I trod,
Crying sinner come to God;
I am on the battlefield for my Lord.

VERSE 3

Now when I met my Savior,

I met Him with a smile,
He healed my wounded spirit,
And owned me as His child.
Around the throne of grace,
He appoints my soul a place;
I am on the battlefield for my Lord.

Dear Pastor Moss and the Entire Congregation of Trinity United Church of Christ,

We thank God for you, your continued prayers, and your love for your pastor
emeritus and the king of our family, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.! We praise
God for the way in which you pour into our lives by crying out to God on behalf of
his health and his livelihood!
We are so very grateful to God for Who God is! God is Sovereign! God can do
whatever God wants, when God wants, and how God wants! God truly keeps
Gods Promises, and God hears and answers prayer!!!
As we embark upon what appears to be the last full week of Pastor Wrights
hospitalization, we give God all praise, honor, and glory, for Gods Faithfulness!
What a miraculous blessing to watch God work, day in and day out, as our warrior
has triumphantly taken direction and instructions from his doctors, nurses, and
therapists, and surpassed each goal set for him every week! We realize that your
prayers have undergirded Pastor Wrights strength, and we glorify God for your
very lives!
Today marks the end of the fourth week that Pastor Wright has used every ounce
of his strength to focus intently on speaking life to himself, in order for his brain
to talk to the muscles on the left side of his body! Great is Gods Faithfulness!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Grace, mercy, and peace be unto you!

Announcements
Watching once lifeless muscles in Dr. Wrights left hand, arm, leg, and foot literally
transform from one day to the next, points directly to the faithfulness of God!
Because of your faith, we recognize neither Pastor Wright, nor our family, would
be able to have made it this far in such a short period of time. We know God is
pleased, because as the Word of God tells us, in Hebrews 11:6, The Message
translation states, Its impossible to please God without faith. And why? Because
anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that He exists and that He
cares enough to respond to those who seek Him.
We bless the name of our God for using you to bless Pastor Wright! We are
looking forward to sharing more good news with you next Sunday. Thank you for
continually walking through this journey with us in prayer!
We love you!
The Family of Pastor Emeritus Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.

Mindblowing Decisions
In a recent Washington Post news article, Walter Kimbrough, the president of Dillard University, a
private Louisiana-based, historically Black college (that Endeleo toured this past spring), reported
that enrollment was soaring at HBCUs.
The surge, in large part, is attributed to recent racial tensions across the country that have prompted
students at traditional white institutions to protest and demand policy changes that they feel are
racially insensitive.
In the wake of major unrest at the University of Missouri last year, coupled with racial protests at
several other campuses, Mr. Kimbrough says Black students and their parents are voting with their
feet. Check out the latest freshmen enrollment numbers as reported by the colleges themselves:

Shaw University: 49% increase

South Carolina State: 39% increase
Tuskegee University: 32% increase
Virginia State University: 30% increase
Both Dillard and Central State University: 22% increases
Florida Memorial University: 20% increase
Delaware State University: 19% increase
Overall, enrollment at both Dillard and Philander Smith College is up 29%

The Trinity Higher Education Corporation (THEC) operates under the umbrella of Endeleos College
and Career Readiness program, and, for decades, has supported HBCUs through our college bus
tours and most recently, the return of our annual Black college fair.
The decisions and renewed interest in matriculating and graduating from institutions with a Black
curriculum, faculty, staff, and black spaces where students can freely express themselves is the same
message Endeleo delivers to our young people, even at the seventh and eighth grade level. Need we
say: Black Colleges Matter!
Endeleo is Progress, Growth and Development

2016 Churchwide Theme and Scriptures

Theme: The Fruit of The Spirit: Taste and See!

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy,
peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and selfcontrol. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

January Love

He answered, You shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with
all your strength, and with all your mind; and your
neighbor as yourself. Luke 10:27 (NRSV)

February Joy

Nehemiah said, Go and enjoy good food and

sweet drinks. Send some to people who have none,
because today is a holy day to the Lord. Dont be
sad, because the joy of the Lord will make you
strong. Nehemiah 8:10 (NCV)

March Peace

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called

children of God. Matthew 5:9 (NIV)

April Patience

Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall

strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Psalm 27:14 (NKJV)

May Kindness

This is what the Lord of Heavens Armies says:

Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one
another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners,
and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.
Zechariah 7:9-10 (NLT)

June Goodness

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let

them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the
humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor
bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do
not boast about it or deny the truth.
James 3:13-14 (NIV)

July Faithfulness

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, You

are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my
teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth
will set you free. John 8:31-32 (NLT)

August Gentleness

By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to

youI, Paul, who am timid when face to face with
you, but bold toward you when away! I beg you
that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I
expect to be toward some people who think that we
live by the standards of this world. For though we
live in the world, we do not wage war as the world
does. 2 Corinthians 10:1-3 (NIV)

September Self Control

So prepare your minds for action and exercise selfcontrol. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation
that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed
to the world. So you must live as Gods obedient
children. Dont slip back into your old ways of living
to satisfy your own desires. You didnt know any
better then. 1 Peter 1:13-14 (NLT)

October Forgive One Another

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and

slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead,
be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)

November Service One Another

My brothers and sisters, God called you to be free,

but do not use your freedom as an excuse to do what
pleases your sinful self. Serve each other with love.
Galatians 5:13 (NCV)

December Build Up One Another

So encourage each other and build each other up,

just as you are already doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)
