Purpose:
This document is part of the Cummins Center of Excellence library to train end
users on how to effectively use the OBIEE tool. The document is a framework for understanding
the possibilities of analysis within the tool and is not intended to be exhaustive. Based on the
use of this document the user should feel confident to explore related material and options
within the OBIEE tool

Log in to OBIEE
Click New>Analysis
From Time Folder Drag Per Name Year, from Product drag LOB, Product and from Base Facts Select
Revenue.
Click the edit button for each of Per Name Year, LOB and Product and filter as follows;
Year = 2009,2010
LOB not equal to TV,
Phone;MP3 Speakers System
The filters used in the Criteria report show at the bottom of the compound view. These can be
displayed to the users on dashboard with the report.
To create filters that apply to any report, Click New, then Filter.
Select the Subject Area
From the Folders, Select the columns and the filters as shown
When creating an analysis for any purpose, that filter will be available in the Catalog to the bottom left
of the Criteria pane.
Double click on it and the set of Filters will populate under the Filters pane
Expand Selection Steps at the bottom of the page and it will look like this;
For Time Per Name Year, click the link on step number 2 and Select Members.
In the next pane select 2009 and 2010 and move them to the right using the blue single arrows. Make
the Action Keep Only.
Click OK.
For LOB step 2 select Add Groups or Calculated Items>New Calculate Item.
In the Display Label Enter Average and Enter Average as the Formula then select all members and
move them to the right.
Click OK
Click OK.
Selection Steps should look like this;
Note that the product value for $200,000 is taken across all dimensions. For example, if Touch-Screen T5
has only 118,062 in revenue in 2009, it only qualifies because in 2010 it has 140,889, making the
cumulative total over the 200,000 figure.
The important thing is to understand the different ways that filters can be viewed from the report.
