Icosit -6630 High Solid

Construction

Universal high-build coating, for protection

against corrosion and weathering
Product
Description

lcosit 6630 high-solid is a low-solvent, high-build coating based on a specially

modified acrylic resin combination with active corrosion protection pigments.

Uses

For weather resistant, thick coatings on steel and galvanized surfaces from rural to
industrial and marine atmosphere: pipelines, bridges, faades, roofs, lattice masts,
street furniture, wall cladding, outside protection of silos.
For coatings on galvanized steel test report is available.
Particularly suited as maintenance coat on top of old coating systems.
Universally applicable on stainless steel, copper, Aluminium and hard

Advantages

Technical Data

PVC and timber. Not suitable for windows and doors.

low solvent content, easy applicable and environmental friendly
excellent corrosion protection even in chemically aggressive atmosphere
excellent adhesion directly to steel, galvanized surfaces, stainless steel, copper,
Aluminium and hard PVC
good corrosion protection even in case of manually de-rusted surfaces
excellent Colour-shade retention and chalking resistance
non- brittling due to a unique binder combination.

Sag resistance

Resistance

Brush application:
wet: approx. 130 microns dry: 80 microns
By spray:
wet: approx. 200 microns dry: 120 microns
Avoid excessive film thickness.
Please note:
Where filigrane constructions and profiles shall be coated (e.g. handrails, pylons,
frame constructions, etc.) difficulties may occur during roller application to achieve
this dry film thickness. If necessary consider additional coats.
Chemical resistance:
Excellent resistance to rural, town, industrial and marine atmosphere as well as
against temporary exposure to neutral salts.
Not resistant to continuous exposure of dilute acids and yes, fatty oils, fuels, mineral
oils etc. Temporary short-term exposure does not harm.
Not suitable for continuous exposure to liquids (including water).
Temperature:
+ 80C

Application Details
Application temperature
(material and substrate)
Surface preparation:

Minimum + 50C - avoid dew point conditions.

Steel:
In case of aggressive industrial atmosphere or highly polluted surfaces (e.g. through
chlorides, sulphates, nitrates etc.):
Blastcleaning to Sa 2 1/2 as per DIN 55 928, part 4.
In case of lower exposure as e.g. in rural atmosphere or indoors, manual surface
preparation (power tool cleaning) to St 2 may be sufficient.
Galvanized surface. stainless steel, copper. aluminium, hard PVC:
Free of dirt, oil, fat and other contamination.
Maintenance of existing coating systems:
In case of well adhering old coating systems, careful cleaning (e.g. by high pressure
water jetting) is sufficient. Loose particles must be removed, defective areas must be
dc-rusted to partially PSa 2 1/2 PMa or PSt 2 and subsequently patch-primed with
lcosit 6630 Primer.

Icosit 6630 high-solid is supplied ready for use. Stir well prior to application. Adding
thinner will result in reduced sag resistance and a reduced dry film-thickness.
By brush or roller.
Conventional high pressure spraying:
nozzle size 1,8 -2,5 mm, pressure 3-5 bar.
By airless spray:
minimum pressure 180 bar at spray gun. Nozzle size 0,38-0,66 mm, spray angle 4080.
Minimum 1 day.
Dust-free after approx. 4 - 5 hours.
May be manipulated after approx. 8-10 hours.
Depending on film-thickness, temperature and ventilation several days. Full
mechanical and chemical resistance is only achieved after final drying. Thinning
and cleaning of implements: Thinner B.
Icosit 6630 high-solid falls under the dangerous goods regulations (class 3.3
inflammable).
In a liquid state the product and the thinner contaminate water and
should not be poured into drains, water and ground.
Remnants of thinner and/or coating material must be removed according to
regulations.
Please observe safety hints on containers and local regulations.
During application and curing in confined spaces, ditches, shafts, containers etc.
adequate ventilation must be provided.
