Math Outcomes

iPad Project
The students have
successfully integrated the
iPad into their daily routine.
They are currently using them
to enhance a wide area of
the curriculum and have a
blast!
We are fortunate to have a
tech mentor coming in
weekly to follow the
students progress and to fuel
or thirst for tech knowledge.

The students will continue to work on many of the number concepts already
introduced. These concepts will be reinforced weekly through station work
and independent practice.
New Concepts to be Introduced:
Now that the students have had time to review and practice their doubles
and their facts to ten we will begin using these basic facts to solve facts to
18.
The students will:

Sequence by 2 going forward and backwards up to 100 and from


starting points that are multiples of 2. GRADE 2

Sequence by 1, 2, 5, 10 and 25 to 500. GRADE 3

Sequence by 5 using multiples of 5. (forward only) GRADE 2

Both grades will continue to work on facts to 10, doubles up to 18


and mental math strategies.

Double multiples of 10 (40 + 40) GRADE 3

Explore the concept of equality (10 + 4 = 7 + 7) with facts to 10


(GRADE 2) and facts to 18 (GRADE 3)

Begin creating graphs (pictographs-GRADE 2, bar graphs-GRADE 3)


using data collected.

Begin measuring the length of objects using non-standard units


GRADE 2

Begin measuring the length of objects using cm and m. - GRADE 3

Demonstrate an understanding of perimeter.

Begin to explore ways to solve multiplication problems (2 and 3


times tables).

You & Your World & Health

Science
&
Social Studies
The grade three students will
also be working from the grade
3 science and social studies
curriculum. For November and
December the focus will be as
follows:
Science We will be wrapping
up our soil unit near the end of
November and be starting our
next unit on invisible forces.
Social Studies We will continue
working on understanding our
Province and begin
understanding the diverse
peoples that live here.

The grade 2 and 3 classes will work together to discover what it takes to have and
maintain a healthy lifestyle through healthy eating and physical fitness.
