CGSTER, CPEO hold Extension Project

The College of Graduate Studies and Teacher Education Research (CGSTER) and the
Community Partnership and Extension Office (CPEO) conducted last August 26 in
Ignacio Villamor High School (IVHS)the extension project entitled OPLAN:
TulongDunong para samga Guro (Innovative Approaches and Strategies in Various
Disciplines).
The program, participated in by around 120 teachers from IVHS, is a multidisciplinary seminar designed by CGSTER to help teachers increase their students
involvement and responsibility for their own learning through various teacherdirected and student-centered strategies.
The teaching areas included Filipino facilitated by Dr. Nina Christina Zamora;
Science handled by Dr. Rebecca C. Espaa and Dr. Eden Evangelista; Mathematics
facilitated by Dr. Rene Belecina and Dr. Evangeline T. Golla; while English was
handled by Dr. Arceli Amarles. Reading, Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE),
Social Science, Music, Arts and Physical Education (MAPE), and Literature were
facilitated by Prof. Merry Ruth Gutierrez, Prof. Lorena A. Castro, Dr. Nonita Marte, Dr.
Voltaire Villanueva, and Dr. Erwin Oamil, respectively. Also present during the
activity were the graduate students of the abovementioned disciplines.
The OPLAN: Tulong Dunong was made possible through the concerted efforts of Dr.
Zamora, CGSTER Extension Coordinator, and Dr. Serafin A. Arviola, Jr., CPEO
Director, together with the Institute of Teaching and Learning (ITL), the Faculty of
Behavioral and Social Science (FBeSS), and the Institute of Physical Education,
Health, Recreation, Dance and Sports (IPEHRDS). In full support were Dr. Zenaida
Reyes, Dean of CGSTER, Dr. Rosemarievic V. Diaz, Vice President for University
Relations and Advancement (VPURA) and Dr. Ester B. Ogena, University President.
