Task 1 Paragraph Headings

- six paragraphs for which the candidate must find the most appropriate
heading from a choice of eight paragraph headings.
Task 2 Scan Reading
- four texts on a single topic and seven statements containing information
from one of the texts.
-match the statements to one of the paragraph

Task 3 Multiple choice

The candidate answers seven multiple choice comprehension questions
based on a single text of 350-450 words

4, Writing
(Time: 60 minutes)

Task 1 Transactional Task -write 100 - 120 word transactional formal

or semi-formal letter or email using the information provided.
Task 2 Discursive Writing
- write a ca. 150 word text -could be an article, a review, a report, a
descriptive or narrative
composition, or a discursive essay.

5, Listening

(Time: ca. 35 minutes)

Task 1 Short conversations -6 short recordings to be matched to

pictures, paragraphs
Task 2 Making notes -an extended monologue. There are notes based on
the text which contains nine gaps.
Task 3 Radio/TV Programme -answer ten multiple choice questions
while listening.

6, Speaking

(Time: 10 minutes preparation + 20 minutes interview)

Task 2 The Picture Story -ten minutes to prepare a story with a given
opening line
Task 3 Situations - 3 cue cards (functions)
Task 4 Communication Task - as a pair you receive a topic card
which contains a debatable point or question
