What is Business and Professional Communication

WHAT IS COMMUNICATION?
- Communication is how information is exchanged or shared through
a variety of mediums. Communication allows individuals to convey
their knowledge and ideas with others. Business and Professional
Communication (BPC) is used to exchange information in a
professional setting for a specific audience.

WHAT IS BPC?
- Communication used in business related disciplines and careers.
BPC gives you the ability to properly convey your ideas and
thoughts with your coworkers or employers. It is communication

within your occupation in a professional manner.

- It is important to be easily understood and concise. One of the most
important aspects of BPC is determining your purpose. Our text
defines purpose as the first step in your writing process. The text
states You want readers to know, to believe, or to be able to do
something when they have finished reading what you have written
(Oliu and Brusaw, and Alred, 2007). Purpose is important in

Another important aspect of BPC is assessing your audience. By
knowing your audiences needs you can more effectively deliver
your information so it is easily understood.

Business and Professional communication is a fundamental skill that


is needed to succeed in the workforce. It is important to be able to
connect and share in a professional manner, as well as present
