REGULATORY STATUS
The use of UV filters to protect the skin is subject to legislation in many countries. The time needed
for approval depends upon the individual requirements of each country and region. The table below
summarizes the approval status of BASF UV filters in different countries and regions.
The approval process for UV filters in USA takes longer than in most countries due to the regulation
of sunscreens as over-the-counter-drugs (OTC). The current approval process for new filters in the
USA still remains under review.
