RE:

Shelli Yoder locked in statistical tie with high favorables

From October 17 to 18, 2016, Garin-Hart-Yang conducted a survey among a

representative sample of 400 likely voters in Indianas 9th Congressional District
(margin of error five percentage points). The following presents the key findings.
Shelli Yoder is tied with Trey Hollingsworth in the trial heat:

Despite Hillary Clinton trailing Donald Trump by a 48%-38% margin,

Hoosier Democrats like John Gregg, Evan Bayh, and Shelli are running
strongly in this district.
Importantly, Shelli has a solid FAVORABLE profile (32% positive, 18% negative)
heading into the final two weeks of the campaign, with an outstanding ratio of
nearly three-to-one among Independents (31% positive, 12% negative).

By contrast, Trey Hollingsworth has a NET UNFAVORABLE image among 9th CD
voters (22% positive, 30% negative), and unlike Shellis strength with
Independents, Hollingsworth has a two-to-one NEGATIVE rating among these
critical voters.
It is very clear that issues related to Hollingsworths residency is cutting through
with the electorate and contributing to his negative image; fully one-fourth of
voters criticize Hollingsworth for being a carpetbagger/not a Hoosier in the openended question.
Put simply, Shellis positive message of being a fiscal conservative and a problemsolver as a wife, mother, teacher, and County Councilwoman, is finding strong
appeal with voters. In fact, the path to victory for Shelli is fairly simple-increase her name recognition (which is currently at 66%). Among voters
who know BOTH candidates, Shelli leads 59%-36%.
This poll was paid for by Shelli Yoder for Indiana.
