Week in Review: October 17 - 21

This weeks poem was Leaves, Leaves, Falling Down. We connected to the poem with a science
experiment using leaves, rubbing alcohol, coffee filters and my Magic Bullet! Ask your child the
different steps of the science experiment. Ill post pictures on the blog if you need to coach them
through their explanation!
Your child should have brought home their carrot and potato from our school garden on Thursday. There
was enough for every child in our school to receive one of each with some leftover!
In our Numbers booklet we did the numbers 6, 7 and 8. Eight is a tricky number to form. The rhyme we
use for this one is Make an s but dont you wait, go right back up to make an eight! Making the s
shape first helped a lot of kids.
This week in our trip to Garden View, we brought over little Halloween door hangers. The kids used
stencils to cover up the words Happy Halloween then used sponges to dab orange and black paint.
Afterwards, I punched a hole in the top and they put a string through each hole so I could tie the knot.
We put one door hanger on each residents door knob and we even had a few left over to hang on hooks in
the hallway that connects the 2 buildings. Our senior friends loved them!
