Thinking about law school? Already on the way to your J.D.? A recent grad looking for your dream job?

Phi Alpha Delta has the resources to help you succeed! We fulfill our mission - "Service to the
student, the school, the profession and the community" - by helping students make informed
decisions about their education, connecting them with mentors and fostering supportive
communities.

Phi Alpha Delta

A Brief History

Phi Alpha Delta's origins can be traced back to 1897,

when a group of Chicago area law students organized in
opposition to a new rule that would change bar admission
requirements. The close bonds these students created
during their shared struggle led them to formally organize
the Lambda Epsilon Law Fraternity. In 1902, Lambda
Epsilon was dissolved in order to form Phi Alpha Delta
and expand membership benefits to the entire legal
community.
Phi Alpha Delta continued to grow and met the
challenges brought on by World Wars I and II and the
Great Depression with stride. With each obstacle it faced,
Phi Alpha Delta turned to the bonds of fraternalism and
fellowship to overcome the odds. Since its inception in
the late 19th century, P.A.D. has grown to become the
largest professional legal fraternity in the world. Its goal,
to provide support to students and professionals, has
remained unchanged.
