Jenga Activity
Teacher is to have set up five games of Jenga with PLTs
written on them on tables around the room.
Students are to work in groups of 4/5 and play Jenga PLTs.
Each student will have a turn at taking a block from the
wooden tower. The block they pull out will have a PLT
written on it. The student is to say how the PLT is used and
what effect it is intended to have on the audience.
These answers will be tallied up on a piece of paper shared
between all group members.
Prepare
Students are to copy down the goal and success criteria for
todays lesson
Teacher is to circle the room to ensure students have a
written/typed copy of this.
Connect + Strengthen
Teacher will ask two students to read their conclusions
aloud.
Teacher will demonstrate how to give feedback to the first
reader.
A student will give feedback for the second reader (Prompts
for feedback are provided on under Peer Review if they
are needed).
Strengthen
Students are to answer the language question individually
Teacher to collect results on board.
Teacher is to instruct on the Language scenario challenge.
Students will have to write the same scenario but one is

when identifying tone in an article/image.

Students are to write out each line of she only told him that
she loved him with the appropriate emphasis in each
sentence.
Students are to work individually at identifying what the
tone is and how it changes depending on where the
emphasis is.
Teacher is to collect results on the board.

the students.
Students give time to read the article there is to be no note
taking at this time.
