Ethan fell for each trap, becoming exhausted, until he sat on a whoopee cushion on the couch and "farted", causing the narrator and Alvin to grin while Ethan grew angry.

    Chapter One: The Traps

    Alvin and I were making a trap for Ethan. Ethan came so I whispered
    to Alvin to distract him. Because Ethan heard me whisper, he knew
    something was strange. Ethan and Alvin played with the bow and arrow.
    Ethan wanted to play hide and seek after the bow and arrow. Alvin was the
    seeker. I made a trap in moms room. I made a trap at the top of the stairs. I
    made a trap in the couch. I said to Ethan, Lets watch TV. Alvin and I hid.
    We caught Ethan in the blanket. Then I said, Lets play upstairs. We were
    playing football and Ethan ran backwards to catch the ball. He fell into a
    lego box that I had covered with a blanket. Ethan was exhausted. He went
    to sit on the couch. Ethan sat on the whoopee cushion and farted. Alvin and
    I grinned. Ethan was about to explode with anger. Alvin and I ran away.
    Maybe we shouldnt have laughed.
