Instructions:

1. Using this map, plot and label the major tectonic plates on your copy of the world map. To reduce clutter, you may want to assign a number to a
plate and label the map with the assigned number instead of the actual name of the plate.
2. Then, annotate in which direction each tectonic plate is moving with an arrow.
3. Finally, identify and label the boundaries between each plate as convergent (C) , divergent (D), or transform (T)

Partners select which group of data he or she wants to plot: earthquakes or volcanoes
Each partner plots either earthquakes or volcanoes on his or her map
Earthquakes should be plotted in black or gray
Volcanoes should be plotted in red

Instructions: Respond to the following prompts in complete sentences. Remember to re-write the prompt into a topic sentence (TAG format) for all
constructed response prompts/questions.
1. How do the earthquake or volcano locations that you plotted verify or prove the theory of plate tectonics?

2. Do you see or discern any patterns in your data? Identify all patterns and explain in detail the dynamics behind the pattern (Consider general
locations of earthquakes and volcanoes, type or types of boundaries in which most earthquakes and volcanoes occur, and any clusters of
earthquakes and volcanoes in specific areas).

3. Compare the two maps (earthquake plots and volcano plots) and explain how the occurrence of earthquakes and volcanoes relate to the theory
of plate tectonics. Are there any inconsistencies between your plots and tectonic plate boundaries?
