Adjusting margins

This printer provides a front-panel interface to adjust the page margins:


Single-sided print

Automatically prints when the printer has one tray only.

Duplex (Double-sided
print)

Requires the Automatic Duplex / Lower Tray Assembly.

Duplex Unit must be installed in the upper tray slot.

In the front panel's Printer Defaults menu, Duplex mode must be enabled.

Adjusting margins for a single-sided print


You might want to adjust the margins on a single-sided page if the image
area is not centered on the page. In other words, the margins are not
even, relative to the outside edge of the paper.

1. In the front panel's Printer Defaults menu, set the Duplex mode
to Disable.
2. Print the Margin Adjust page from the front panel.
a. Press Menu.
b. Scroll to Calibrate Margins. Press Menu; the display reads:
Print Calibration Page
<--- ---> Print

c. Press Print.
3. Determine if the margins need adjustment: use the page's top- and
left-margin gauges to note how much the margins are off-center.

4. Adjust the left margin:


a. In the Calibrate Margins menu, scroll to Adjust Left Margin.
Press Menu.
Adjust Left Margin:+0
<--- ---> OK

b. Enter the amount of adjustment from Step 3 (press <--- or --> to increase or decrease the amount); press OK.
5. Adjust the top margin:
a. Scroll to Adjust Top Margin. Press Menu.
Adjust Top Margin:+0
<--- ---> OK

b. Enter the amount of adjustment from Step 3 (press <--- or --> to increase or decrease the amount); press OK.
6. Reprint the calibration page to confirm the adjustment.
Adjusting margins for a duplex print
You might want to adjust the margins on a two-sided page if the image area
of the front side (shown in blue) is not aligned with the image area of the
second side (shown in red).

1. Adjust the margins for a single-sided print (refer to Adjusting margins


for a single-sided print ).
2. In the front panel's Printer Defaults menu, enable the Duplex mode:
select Long-Edgeor Short-Edge.
3. Print the Margin Adjust page from the front panel.
a. Press Menu.
b. Scroll to Calibrate Margins. Press Menu; the display reads:
Print Calibration Page
<--- ---> Print

c. Press Print.
4. To determine if the margins need adjustment:
a. Hold the page up to the light to see if the margin on the front
and back sides align.
b. Use the page's top- and left-margin gauges to note how much
the alignment is off.
5. Adjust the left margin:
a. In the Calibrate Margins menu, scroll to Adjust Left Margin.
Press Menu.
Adjust Left Margin:+0
<--- ---> OK

b. Enter the amount of adjustment from Step 4 (press <--- or --> to increase or decrease the amount); press OK.
6. Adjust the top margin:
a. Scroll to Adjust Top Margin. Press Menu.
Adjust Top Margin:+0
<--- ---> OK

b. Enter the amount of adjustment from Step 4 (press <--- or --> to increase or decrease the amount); press OK.
7. Reprint the calibration page to confirm the adjustment.
