    Astronomy Constitution and Bylaws

    ARTICLE I: NAME & PURPOSE


    Section A: Name The name of this club shall be the Astronomy Club
    Section B: Purpose The purpose of this club shall be:
    1. To encourage the Stevenson community to learn more about the
    universe and create an interest for astronomy.
    2. To observe and learn about different astronomical objects.
    ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP & DUES
    Section A: Eligibility - Membership shall be open to anyone in the Stevenson
    community
    Section B: Active Membership Officers and Advisor will ratify ACTIVE
    membership every trimester and members are expected to
    ARTICLE III: OFFICERS
    Section A: Officers There shall be two officers responsible for carrying out
    activities
    Section B: Eligibility Officers must be students and ACTIVE members of the
    club.
    Section C: Election The officers shall be chosen by the advisor
    Section D: Term Officers shall remain for the school year
    ARTICLE IV: DUTIES OF OFFICERS
    Section A: Officer 1. Actively attend meetings
    2. Take responsibility for at least one meeting a month
    3. Work with other officer and advisor on club agenda, meetings, and
    events.
    4. Attend meetings with other officer and advisor
    ARTICLE V: MEETINGS
    Section A: Meetings
    1. Regular meetings shall be held every other Wednesday during the
    school year

    2. Meetings will start off with a discussion held in S9 and move outside
    to the Astronomy patio if weather permits
    ARTICLE VII: ADVISOR
    Section A: Duties The responsibilities of the faculty advisor shall be to:
    1. Meet on a regular basis with the leader of the student club to discuss
    upcoming meetings, upcoming events and problems of the club.
    2. Attend regular meetings and sessions
    3. Assist in the organization of events
    4. Assist the club members in managing the financial account and
    monetary activities
    5. Inform club members of those factors that constitute unacceptable
    behavior on the part of the club members, and the possible consequence of
    said behavior.
    ARTICLE IX: AMENDMENTS
    Section A: Selection these bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3)
    majority vote of the chapter membership.
    Section B: Notice All members shall receive advance notice of the proposed
    amendment at a week before the meeting.
