Welcome/Pledge of Allegiance:
The meeting was called to order by Treasurer Nathan Hans at 7:03 p.m.
Roll Call: Present: Maria Marcucci, Trustee; Mary Claire Aitken, Trustee; Nathan Hans,
Treasurer, Melissa Tacke, Library Director. Excused: Ryan Mullahy, Vice Present;
President Karis-Nix; and Sarah Niemitalo, Trustee
Adoption of Agenda:
Not a quorum and therefore agenda could not be adopted
Public Comment:
None
Presidents Report:
Retreat Discussion with Tim Burke. Recommendation is for the entire board and library
director to be in attendance for the retreat. Three potential topics are:
Long Range Plan: The retreat can get a head start on the plan. The existing plan
is about to expire
Mission Statement: Make it pithy
Financial Support: Identifying financial streams
Secretarys Report:
Minutes tabled until October
Treasurers Report:
No motion. Tabled until October
Directors Report:
Director Tacke presented her monthly report and indicated that the summer reading
numbers are up along with the number of summer programs offered. The library now
has a table at the Farmers and Artisans Market in Castleton. The table includes kids
crafts, LEGOs, and coloring, along with information about the library. The library will be
receiving $2,500 in additional NYS money through the education Bullet Aid. This is an
increase over the $2,000 received in 2015. Funds will be coming in October.

Friends Report:
Key activities:
Boscovs 25% off shopping passes ($5) are now available at the library for sale.
The shopping passes are good for 10/18 at any Boscovs location.
Fall Fest October (10/1) rain or shine 12-5. Assistance is needed. Barb will be
there 2:30-5:00 PM
October 29th the Halloween Parade
November 19th Barnes and Noble event 9 AM 9 PM. Welcome all help
Committee Reports:
Administrative Committee - Tabled until October
Finance Committee - Tabled until October
Operations/Capital Projects Committee - Tabled until October
Policy Committee: Theres a class Melissa can attend from October - November
providing direction on how to create this policy document. Looking to have policy
finalized by January

Board Retreat: See above
August movie series at SISP tabled
Library word-of-mouth advertising: So You Want to be an Entrepreneur.
Minimum 5 people needed for the event to occur. Pre-registration is needed.
Wednesday, October 12th @ 6 PM and Halloween Costume Swap on October
15th from 11 AM to 4 PM. Melissa will accept costumes or elements to use as a
costume (i.e., make-up; hats, etc)
