This is used by me in order to write emails,


reports and minutes during the career fair as
well as assignments, if I cannot
communicate effectively then my point
cannot be carried across in the assignment.

I am easy talk to, I can make friends and make


people feel conformable, for example
employers at events such as careers fairs which
are quite informal and relaxed, I managed to
talk to the police and a lot of universities about
what they do and the sort of jobs they offered.
The feedback I got was very positive.
This is used in the form of emails to tutors as
well as emails we sent out to employers
inviting them to the careers fair, if the message
wasnt formal the employers wouldnt take the
email seriously and would decline the event.

do this by listening and then taking notes in
order to make sure I understand the work.
During presentations this is key, If you are

mumbling, not speaking clearly and reading


every word off the PowerPoint and not
explaining it yourself it will not get you good
marks.

efficiently in order for the project fair to work.
Each sub team worked perfectly to pull off the
project and make it a success.

everyone happy, this was a property of the PM
I had learnt and developed.

Action Plan for Development and where you can access these
This is a skill I started to learn during the Project, I had to learn that although it isnt nice
to disagree with people as the PM as their motivation goes it is the best way to make the
majority in the form of a compromise. This was clear during the project where sub teams
would argue over whose fault it was for the project falling behind and I had to make a
compromise by setting weekly objectives that satisfied each time.
This is very important in any business job; I can use a spreadsheet but need to learn how
to use formulas and equations in order to crunch numbers very effectively. This is a skill
that I need if I am to become an accountant or an lawyer, I am practising and learning
how to use Excel to the best of my ability to help me in the future. I need to raise my
Excel levels to the levels of My word and PowerPoint Skills.

I need to learn how people react to orders, as PM I wasnt aware of the clear body
languages shown by some embers that displayed unhappiness; for example moaning
sighing and eye rolling, these are signs that my decisions were harsh or not liked, t the
time I didnt know and in hindsight it is a skill I need to learn in order to be more
sensitive. I did notice the positive signs of body language such as smiling and nodding and
laughing

home, etc

think of all aspects of your work, studies and social life.

Award Scheme, committee work etc.

It is likely that you will have used this skill in many aspect of your day-to-day life. Try to think of situations where you have wanted something
and the person you have been dealing with has been reluctant to give it to you. This is very common when dealing with bureaucracy. E.g. dealing
with problems about welfare benefits, dealing with a landlord, extending an overdraft. You might have been in more formal negotiating
situations such as getting sponsorship for a project, representing students on university committees, student union work etc.
Sensitivity- Ability to respond appropriately to individual differences, e.g., age, gender, etc.
You many have developed this skill through working on a student nightline or help line, being a course or hall rep, committee work etc.
Leadership - Ability to encourage and motivate others
Obvious examples include: being a team captain, drama directing, chairing a committee etc. Less obvious examples include: editing a magazine, cocoordinating the activities of a group who are planning a social event etc.

You can draw evidence directly from your degree if a high level of numeric or mathematical ability is an essential part of your programme of
study. If this is not the case you can demonstrate this skill by GCSE/AS/A level Maths, a job involving a significant amount of work with

opportunities available to you? etc.
