Window of Opportunity:
I.
Rationale: A mission of Trickum Middle School is to foster and encourage academic success. Our window of
opportunity supports mastery of concepts in all academic areas with the understanding that success is essentially
about mastery of vital skills and performances (writing, speaking, summarizing, making inferences, etc.).
Success is not primarily about the grade.
II. Students may turn in a graded assignment at any point within a 3-day window of opportunity set by the teacher.
If assignments are turned in after the window of opportunity closes, a grade of 50% or less may be earned. If the
assignment is not turned in, teachers will enter an NTI (Not Turned In). Late assignments submitted during the week of
a progress reporting period will be
accepted based on teacher discretion.
III. Long-term projects and assignments such as science fair projects, research projects, etc. may have an extended
window of opportunity with multiple checkpoints as set by the teacher.

We will be creating our own text book

this year. We will use Interactive
Notebooks to gather our information. It
is important that you get all information
in your IN!

Extra Help

If a student is having trouble they should speak with the

teacher as soon as possible. The teacher will work with
the student to schedule time for extra help. Extra help is
available Wednesday mornings and by appointment. Junior
Beta Tutoring is also available throughout the year.
