It has emerged that a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Nigeria, on
Friday, 8 April, nullified the election of Amaju Pinnick as the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The court also ordered Ambassador Chris Giwa to take over as the President of the NFF pending the final determination of the case fixed for April 30, 2016. The case was filed by Yahaya Adama and Obinna Ogba after the disputed election of Amaju Pinnick in September 2014, but was withdrawn following the intervention of both President Goodluck Jonathan and the world football governing body, FIFA. The case was however re-opened by the current Minister for Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, believed to be an ally of Senator Chris Giwa. The court then ruled in favour of Giwa and instructed the Federal Government to recognize him as the NFF President. Pinnick and Giwa came close to fisticuffs when a peace meeting was called by Solomon Dalung on Wednesday, 20 January, 2016, at the National Stadium, Abuja. FIFA has yet to react to the latest development.
