SHORT STORY 2

Water Is Life, But Not When The Sink Overflows.


I have consistently warned my household not to leave the water taps on,
whether or not they (the taps) are running. This is because, even if they are
not, power could be restored in our absence and our co-tenants could pump
water.
Last night there was no power and the taps were dry before we went to bed.
I woke up this morning, however, to discover that the entire kitchen and
parts of the living room were completely flooded. For the umpteenth time,
Amaka, my sister-in-law, had left the kitchen tap on and the sink had
overflowed.
Amaka! Amaka! Look what you have done! Why are you so forgetful? Is it
the avalanche of calls that you answer, or is it your boyfriend that you keep
thinking about? I yelled.
